The Seven thing that destroy us

By Little Ghandi from http://www.bidayuh.com/britong

(Source: http://www.bidayuh.com/britong/messages/361095.html)

Dear friends, in my earlier posting, which our friend has kindly posted on his blog page, Swisserikin, I have mentioned some of the things that destroy us. Those of us who have heard of deadly sins would remember it as the following:-

1. Wealth Without Work
2. Pleasure Without Conscience
3. Knowledge Without Character
4. Commerce (Business) Without Morality (Ethics)
5. Science Without Humanity
6. Religion Without Sacrifice
7. Politics Without Principle

1. Wealth Without Work

We all have seen it. Take some prominent personalities, a ‘kepo’ man with no high academic qualification. He gets nominated as a BN candidate. In the earlier days, it was even worse. I remember one radio announcer, who only had Primary Six common entrance certificate, got elected as YB. Overnight, people like him accumulate fortunes like it was nobody’s business. Now, how much is the official ADUN or MP salary? Yes, I agree, if they actually perform their duties surely they deserve more that just RM10000 or so depending on their portfolio. I mean, it’s a shame if our YB still drives a Proton and expect to command some authority among the folks in his constituency. But, what is common knowledge about their salary, what they have before becoming YB and owning a few bungalows overnight, does not bear any logic.
In many other countries, many politicians make it first in business. Their joining politics later on, is with the intention to give back to community who has supported them in business.
BN YB’s reap where they do not sow. It is clear in the bible, that this is sin.

2. Pleasure without conscience.

I quote from Stephen Covey: The chief query of the immature, greedy, selfish, and sensuous has always been, "What's in it for me? Will this please me? Will it ease me?" Lately many people seem to want these pleasures without conscience or sense of responsibility, even abandoning or utterly neglecting spouses and children in the name of doing their thing. But independence is not the most mature state of being - it's only a middle position on the way to interdependence, the most advanced and mature state. To learn to give and take, to live selflessly, to be sensitive, to be considerate, is our challenge. Otherwise there is no sense of social responsibility or accountability in our pleasurable activities”.
Think of the latest sex scandals in this country. Think of the Mongolian model who was blown up with explosives. Have they no remorse? Think of the conspiracy behind all this. I am pretty sure, some senior politicians are involved. The court case is prolonged because, they do not want to dig the skeletons out. But dear friends, the integrity of our parliamentary system is long at stake, whether they chose to expose the sins of these men or not . Do we still want this government?

3. Knowledge Without Character

Contrary to the days of Kalong Ningkan and the era of radio announcers with Primary Six education being elected, nowadays, medical doctors and PhD holders are being nominated. Again it is a shame when the Minister of Health’s escapade got exposed, and he was defiant. He told us that his greatest mistake was not that he commit adultery (I wonder what the other term for it could be). No, he said, it was because his rise to power was too fast, he made achievements leaps and bounds and that he made some people jealous.

4. Commerce (Business) Without Morality (Ethics)

Business without ethics. Think of how public funds disappear. Think of how under-the-table-money is such accepted culture. Now some may find this sensitive. If we are guilty in participating in any of these, please repent. We are no better accusing other of this sin, if we too are guilty.
Indonesia is thrown out to the dogs, because the culture of corruption is common practice. It is accepted as a way of life. Islam is a way of life, they tell us. It is very accommodating, very reasonable. In other words, you can practice it to suit your comfort and convenience. My friends, don’t. If you jump off a ten story building, you cannot change your mind on passing the 5th floor. You will perish.
The law of God is the same. It is not made so that we can adjust it to suit our whims and fancy. Our so called leaders mess up with His laws, we will suffer generations for their sins. Look at Philippines.

5. Science Without Humanity

The intellectuals who represent us out there, can word it so nicely that it is okay to uproot our brothers and sisters from their birthplace to be relocated at some place where they can improve their livelihood. Sorry, Environmental expert. If you have money to build a dam in nowhere in Bengohland, surely, there is enough money to bring roads to their longhouses.

6. Religion Without Sacrifice

I shall not get personal here but have you seen how, some so called Bible believing YB’s would participate in some unchristian rituals, just to please Satan. Not to mention, those who have converted to the other side, still have the nerve to make the sign of the cross in public. The Bible says, in Matthew 16:24
"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me”. Those were the words of our Lord Jesus himself.
Deny yourself. True leaders, would lay down their lives for his people. That’s what Kim Day Jung suffered. He was thrown in the Pacific ocean by the Northe Korean communist and that would have been the end of the struggles of south Korea. He was saved by the CIA of course. The moral: he was ready to die for what he believed.
Today I saw another incumbent in a Sai Baaba temple, telling us that all religions lead to the same thing. Talk about worship without sacrifice. That’s cheap my friends. For us Christians, believing in Christ means we have to deny ourselves form our selfish desires. It is wrong to sleep with a friends wife. Now will you still vote for them?

7. Politics Without Principle

The dirty tactics of the perpetrators of injustice, I need not repeat here. BN politics is dirty. Friends, let us make a difference. For the sake of the future generation of Sarawak, let us vote wisely.
Nothing BN practices, prove anything contrary to the above teachings.
I am but a little Ghandi. You too, can make this change. Many little Ghandi’s will change this world. Let us make it this world better place. Let us stop just existing and start living.

God bless.
