Being natives we then to be closer to nature and looking after nature(we are more of green peace in nature). To live in the town is not trully us. Ya we may work in town but when we retired we prefer to stay in kampung and close to nature. So you natives in power remember someday you will retire. And that happened and you being kick like a ball, only then you know how we felt. Cos' your kampung might be under the red ribbon. Development is when people are enrich to living and not being robbed of living.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497105117555093389.post-13877521999687110452008-07-23T22:06:00.000+08:002008-07-23T22:06:00.000+08:00It's pity that we natives are called squatters...It's pity that we natives are called squatters in our own ancestors land. How come we the natives are treated as outcast in our own country? what happen?

All these calamities will continue to befall on all the natives when every elections all the natives are voting for BN. So stop voting for BN. Bn is the party created to served the oppressors the wicked & the rich only. The ordinary poor rakyat like us native are never ever of their interest. For them we are like lalang & pest.

Next state election, all of us must get rid of BN from power. We must vote then out else we are all going to be treated like slave in our own country.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497105117555093389.post-47277598536237324492008-07-23T13:13:00.000+08:002008-07-23T13:13:00.000+08:00This is just about a Bakun damp. If the raykat is agaist it then, in the next DUN or PARLIMENT sitting table a BILL and make an UNLAWFUL act LAWFUL. Look around you, we have LEGAL GANGSTERS IN BLUE and those in SUITE SITTING IN THE HIGH CHAIRS drumming to use others for their gain. And I think you are one of those been used by the backside. We are not against development. Development must be done justly, fairly and in the adsence of corruption. Annwar, he is after those who are corrupted and has stealed from the raykat.....i think like you lah.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497105117555093389.post-44757794661839198992008-07-19T13:45:00.000+08:002008-07-19T13:45:00.000+08:00So you support the law breakers are you? What has become of a young man like you. Do you prefer lawlessness?

It looks to me also that you don have any faith in what the government is doing by condemning every act of the government and I am sure you are a PKR supporter. But my advise is be careful. Anwar is still free and he has not been charged. Probably he will make you his next target. Just be extra careful.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497105117555093389.post-77098899846021596642008-07-19T12:20:00.000+08:002008-07-19T12:20:00.000+08:00The Star, Saturday July 19, 2008Bakun folk seek co...The Star, Saturday July 19, 2008

Bakun folk seek court order to stop state dept from razing more homes

BINTULU: Bakun residents have lodged a police report against the Sarawak Land and Survey Department for bulldozing their dwellings. They have also sought a court order against further demolition.

Community chief of Uma Juman settlement, Tuai Rumah Patrick Keming, lodged the report at the Bintulu Central Police Station, claiming that the department had not only violated the rights of the community but had also committed criminal acts when they destroyed the natives' properties.

“The enforcement officers forced their way into our settlement and used criminal force to demolish our homes and farm huts.

“We want the police to take appropriate action against the department and the enforcement officers who violated our rights.

Painful predicament: Social activist Father Michael Jok speaking with Bakun residents Bukut Aran, 80, and his wife Payar Etam, 75, whose home has been marked with 2(Z) in red paint for demolition.

“We also appeal for police protection against any further demolition and trespassing,” said Keming, a farmer.

In a related development, lawyer Paul Raja filed a motion on behalf of the affected Bakun folk to seek an injunction against the department, the state government and any other government or private developer from destroying any property in Bakun, where the people had native customary rights.

In the motion filed at the Bintulu High Court complex yesterday he sought a court order to stop enforcement agencies from entering the native land.

On Tuesday, enforcement officers from the Bintulu Land and Survey branch office went into Bakun in 30 vehicles. Using three bulldozers they demolished premises in four different settlements not far from the RM6bil Bakun hydroelectric dam site.

Since then, the affected natives had staged protests and blockades in an effort to halt further demolition.

Bintulu Land and Survey superintendent Azmaen Saperi said the department had received directives from its headquarters in Kuching to destroy “illegal dwellings” in Bakun built on government land.

The residents claim they had native customary rights over the land because their people had been in Bakun for the last 130 years.

________
Note:
This is quite interesting NCR land case.
Even a non-anthropologist can tell that it's just plain wrong to force original inhibitants away from their host site.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
